Age Discrimination and Harassment
Age is a “protected class” under the Minnesota Human Rights Act. While often indirect and difficult to prove, ageism – especially against older employees – is common in a competitive job market.
Example: Refusing to interview candidates over or under a certain age, based on the assumption that they are too old or young to “fit in” with the current team or that they are not capable of performing certain tasks based on their age e.g. working with new technology.
